The Tribeca Film Institute has a multitude of cultural happenings taking place this time of the year. In addition, submissions for the Tribeca Film Festival being held from April 18th through April 29, 2012, are open until December 2nd so make sure and enter before it is too late.

In celebration of the start of a new year, Tribeca Film Institute is holding its annual benefit which promises to be a glamorous star-studded event. It will be held on Wednesday, December 7th, with an advanced screening of Garry Marshall’s new comedy and romance film, New Year’s Eve. The film is appropriately set in New York City with an Academy award-winning cast of Robert De Niro, Hillary Swank and Halle Berry as well as Academy Award nominees Michelle Pfeiffer and Abigail Breslin. Also a part of the film are Sarah Jessica Parker, Katherine Heigl, Jessica Biel, Ashton Kutcher, Sofia Vergara, Zac Efron, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jon Bon Jovi and Lea Michele from the hit TV series, ‘Glee’. The event will be held at 7:00 P.M. at the famous Ziegfield Theatre in New York City with a dinner party immediately following. Proceeds from the sale of the tickets will go to the Tribeca Film Institute supporting those students wishing to enter the field of filmmaking. The Institute gives those talented individuals an excellent chance, through grants and contributions, to develop their media skills.

This coming Saturday, November 26th, Tribeca rolls out ‘Small Business Saturday’ along with American Express. This promotion will support all the small businesses that fuel the economy and energize communities. In anticipation of the big day, Tribeca will be spotlighting ‘moms & pops’ whose local, independently-owned businesses deserve attention from holiday shoppers right after Thanksgiving and into the heavy shopping season.
