Let the Party Begin with Jeffrey Cares

New York Fashion Week may set the modish city in motion, but, there is another stylish event that shapes fashion in the spring in this trendsetting mecca. One of the huge events that continues to raise over $9 million in much needed funding for causes such as LGBT civil rights, HIV prevention and research and education for LGBT youth is Jeffrey Fashion Cares.
In just a matter of days from now, this enormous charity event will celebrate its 15-year anniversary, taking place on April 11, 2018, on The Intrepid, located at Pier 86 overlooking the New York Harbor. Not only does this year mark a turning point in the fashion world, but, the event serves, once again, as a major platform for educating and assisting those who are, at times, neglected.
There are three chosen organizations that the event will support with this benefit. The Elton John AIDS Foundation exists with the belief that there will be a cure for AIDS in this lifetime. Sir Elton John has a mission to raise funds with love and integrity for every person that falls victim and yet has a chance to beat the odds. The foundation’s motto is “Compassion, Action, Results.” They are thrilled to be one of the organizations of focus.
Another organization being highlighted this year is the Hetrick-Martin Institute , a New York City-based non-profit organization that opens its heart to young people. Whatever their sexual orientation may be, each youngster deserves an environment that will allow and empower them to maximize their full potential. Some of the most innovative programs to inspire and guide have been created by Hetrick-Martin Institute. Those involved with the institute focus on education, healthcare, mental health, homelessness, economic empowerment and transgender and gender-liberated youth.
Lastly, Jeffrey Cares will be putting the spotlight on Lambda Legal this year, a national legal organization with a priority to achieve full recognition of civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, trans-genders and those living with HIV. The firm accomplishes its goal through impact litigation, education and public policy work. The only way it is possible to do this is through the support of individuals across the country and at events such as this one.
The evening of April 11th will begin with a cocktail reception which will lead into a silent auction and live auction with some unique packages for the bidding. Exotic vacations, a tour of the Tesla Factory in San Francisco along with a tour of a winery and the opportunity to be ‘Supermodel for a day’ are just some of the live auction items. The silent auction will offer a Gucci embroidered backpack, a David Yurman Chronograph watch and a Meet and Greet with Whoopi Goldberg on The View as well as other extraordinary items.
The most anticipated part of the entire event is a men’s fashion show which will feature over 40 of the top models in the fashion industry, making their own fashion statement on the runway. There will be a VIP lounge catering to celebrities, flowing champagne and hors d’oeuvres. Each year, Jeffrey Cares awards one deserving individual the Jeffrey Fashion Cares Community Leadership Award, and this year, that honor will go to U.S. Army Staff Sergeant, Cathrine Schmid and the plaintiffs challenging the ban against transgender people serving in the military. The evening will be hosted by Tony and Emmy Award-winning actress and human rights activist, Judith Light. Many high profile celebrities have hosted this annual affair in past years.
Partnering with Jeffrey Cares in 2018 to make this a successful benefit will be Nordstrom, Cadillac, CFDA, Coach, Delta, TBS, TNT, FarFetch, Douglas Elliman Real Estate, Belvedere Vodka, Moet3 Hennessy and Mitchell Gold and Bob Williams.
