Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week continues to travel the globe to exotic cities all thriving with the excitement of elegance and sophistication in style with a dynamic backing.
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia began in Moscow on October 25, 2013. This is the premier and largest fashion event in all of Russia and Eastern Europe as seen when the collection of 75 year-old designer, Slava Zaitsev (Godfather of Russian Fashion) was one of the highlights of the week. It is the perfect setting to proudly display the creativity and timeless talent of a number of generations of decadent designers.
But this season it also symbolizes so much more. The second day of the event marked a deviation from the ordinary as Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia hosted Miss Universe, Olivia Culpo, and 27 Miss Universe contestants as part of the fashion events. The crowning of a new Miss Universe will take place on November 9, 2013 in Moscow so this was an even greater way to introduce to the world to some of the contestants.
Those representing their country for the Tony Ward Fashion Show hailed from Australia, Singapore, Sweden, Venzuela, the UK, France, Japan, Spain, Canada, Russia, Thailand, Philippines, USA and more.
Tony Ward Haute Couture which took place at Manege, next to the Moscow Kremlin, invited these 27 contestants to model his amazing pieces. This was the very first showing for Ward at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia. It is the premier showing for the designer who is beginning to travel down new avenues to showcase his collections. The unveiling of this debut collection was done in cooperation with Crocus Atelier Couture. The exquisitely gorgeous reigning Miss Universe, Olivia Culpo, opened the show in a gown of glory.
The Spring/Summer 2014 collection was titled “Frozen Memories.” It was a tribute to women from across the globe and saluted their unique femininity. Red gowns were a hint of the power of a woman’s beauty hypnotizing all those that come in contact with her loveliness and the gown that reveals her magic. These ravishing gowns surely highlighted the beauty of each and every one of the queens stepping forth for their respective nation.
Ruffles, sequins, tulle, flowing tafetta, strapless silk, plunging v-necklines, suggestive side slits were all part of the masterful collection of Tony Ward. A white and silver gown illuminated the runway with a magnetic shine. A sea of blue and a bevy of black blessed the catwalk as well.
There was no doubt that Tony Ward ruled the runway with pieces that are intricately designed and created for women of class and stature.
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia brought 70 designers to present their Spring/Summer 2014 collections from October 25, 2013 through October 31, 2013. Designers came from Russia, UK, Japan and Israel and each show had many impressive and memorable pieces.
“The support of Russian fashion designers is our priority. Participation in this event will provide designers with new opportunities. The only issue is how to use these opportunities in a right way”, says Alexander Shumsky, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russian President.
