Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2013 is upon us as the fashion frenzy descends upon Lincoln Center in New York City along with a variety of other venues.

Designers travel across the world to become a part of this bi-annual event that places creative collections in the spotlight for the fashion world to admire.

This is an influential time for emerging talent as well as established designers because it is an avenue in which they can give the public and fashion critics alike a preview of what is in store for Spring 2013 or whatever the season may be.

The festivities and shows take place from September 6 – 13, 2012 with an even bigger and brighter line-up which just goes to prove that the fashion world is growing stronger in leaps and bounds year after year.  There are scheduled to be some 80+ runway shows and presentations over the course of the week including the official Stone Rose Lounge where attendees can go and relax and unwind and socialize.  Overall, the week-long event draws in close to 100,000+ industry professionals and advantageously stimulates the local economy in New York City.

Returning designers include Ruffian, Tadashi Shoji, Chado Ralph Rucci, Farah Angsana, Falguni & Shane Peacock, Tracy Reese, Lela Rose, Carlos Miele, Mara Hoffman, Emerson, Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, Badgley Mischka, Vera Wang, Vivienne Tam, Zang Toi just to begin the list.

The week opens with the much anticipated 9th Annual Style Awards at 6:00 p.m. on September 5th which will also be broadcast on the Style Network on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT.  The Stage will shine with gifted designers, stylists and the honor of an award going out to a ‘Citizen of Style’.

Exhilarating group presentations will take place brought to us by Fashion Law Institute, Arise Magazine, Academy of Art Institute, Concept Korea and Project Runway.

New additions to the action include the debut of the latest collection by Katie Holmes under her brand name of Holmes & Yang and coming to The David H. Koch Theatre will be ELLE Fashion/NEXT 2012, a partnership between ELLE and the Fashion Institute of Technology sponsored by Maybelline New York.  Twenty of FIT’s top student designers have become finalists and are now given the opportunity to display their work proudly.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week would not be fully possible if not for the generous sponsorship of corporate powerhouses such as DHL, American Express, Maybelline New York, TRESemme’, Diet Pepsi, Fiber One Bars, WGSN and SKYY Vodka who will all share a presence in the Center during the week.  Mercedes-Benz is the largest sponsor of all giving attendees a preview of their sleek, high-performance automobiles.  Sponsoring media outlets include The New York Times, Getty Images and Women’s Wear Daily.

We salute Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, all the top designers, industry professionals, IMG Fashion and the city of New York City.  This is going to be a fabulous season of fashion-forward styles!
