PARIS FASHION WEEK BRINGS US BALENCIAGA

The beauty of fashion can only be described as magnificent expression felt the world over. It brings with it a sense of pride, a sensuous overtone, a positive spirit to hold with us season after season.
We were captivated by the charismatic fashions of London Fashion Week which then led into Paris Fashion Week for the romantic at heart.
One of the stand-out names of the week, with top model Gisele Bündchen walking the runway for the finale of Autumn/Winter 2014/15 Collection, was design house, Balenciaga. The designer behind the exclusive name is Alexander Wang and, with his creativity, plenty of texture took this collection to the limit. Wang has only been with the brand for one year but he knows what goes into designing a winning collection.
Knitwear seemed to ring strong for Balenciaga in sweaters, dresses, the total look for this Autumn/Winter 2014/15 presentation. Wang specifically gave us the heavier knit dresses and dared to design them so differently with big stripes in strong colors to make a confident statement; orange and navy or purple and black. The parkas had a softer feel in lilacs and crimsons.
For those that are partial to pants, the slim fitted trousers with just a bit of a flare were paired with jackets that had faux fur wide collars and adorned the front of the jacket in long strips.
My favorite was the leather dress which is so versatile for a number of occasions. Accessories this season consisted of chunky metal jewelry and fur bags. Balenciaga does not customarily concentrate on accessories but Alexander Wang is pushing down that path. All the accessories gave us the touch and feel of a cool winter wind blowing in.
Zippers went every which way and were accentuated with black trim or vivid fuchsia or both. There were also plenty of parkas and capes. I never realized there could be so many designs for jackets but almost every single one wowed us. The finale was made up of half embellished turtle and scoop-necked grey and black knits sewn into silk evening tops paired with matching silk pants.
Alexander Wang seems to be the perfect fit for Balenciaga. At only 30 years of age, he strives to design beyond perfection giving each piece his individual attention. We love the final results.
Once Paris Fashion Week comes to a close, there will have been some 90 shows that have taken place featuring such well-respected designers as Christian Dior and Issey Miyake.
