Ralph Lauren Fall/Winter 2011 Collection for Fashion Week, By Hope Wilkos Writer/Blogger
Ralph Lauren is one of the most respected and classic designers of all times. His clothes have always held a special appeal to a widely diversified customer base.
The Fall/Winter 2011 Collection shown in New York City on Thursday, February 17th, was so very glamorous and sophisticated. Lauren’s influence for this collection was a mix of the 1930’s, Deco and Chinoiserie influences.

Colors dominating the runway included a large mix of black and red, greens, shades of amethyst, jade and ruby and metallics.
Traditional pencil skirts were paired with black, white and green silk blouses. Luxurious leather was the prominent material in a tight form-fitting dress, short jacket and knee-length trench coat.
Lauren proved that a woman can wear a suit with as much class and finesse as a man. The glossy black silk suit was classy and still kept feminine with red Oriental earrings and bright red lips. There was a take on the black tuxedo done in silk paired with red velvet platforms.
We were swept back to the 30’s with the pinstripe gauchos, fur draped skirt suits, fur coats and accessories such as the small rounded hat covering a portion of the brow.

A purple knee-length coat finished in black fur at the wrists and the collar was certainly spectacular adding bright color to the runway.

Evening Wear was simply stunning and the Asian influence was dominant in the majority of the pieces.
A smoking jacket, evening dress and a heavy brown coat displayed intricate embroidery with dragon prints and opulent colors.

Beauty was unmatched in bugle-beaded column gowns, capelets and tops.

The Deco inspiration could be seen in dazzling metallic silver adorned bodices and geometric necklines. We were swept back to the glamorous Hollywood Dietrich-era with richly embellished one-shouldered gowns, a draped kimono-like dress in green silk, floor-skimming gowns with leg-baring slits and a mesh top with a sparkling metallic mermaid bottom laced with ruffled feathers.

Accessories captured the varying influences with unexpected details like red lacquer heels and clutch bags with jeweled accents.
The show captured the essence of beauty and refinement in a variety of wearable pieces for every occasion.
