Fall/Winter 2011 IMG/Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week By Hope Wilkos,Writer/Blogger.
Itâs hard to believe that a week has already gone by and IMG/Mercedes-Benz Fall/Winter 2011 Fashion Week has come to a close setting the stage for a season that gave us elegance and refinement with cutting edge fashions.

The eventful week started off with a bang on Wednesday, February 9th, when The Heart Truthâs Red Dress Collection kicked off Fashion Week at Lincoln Center. Celebrities advocating the cause came out to model and show their spirit. It was a great evening had by all with very positive feedback.

Thursday, February 10th, talented hot designers such as BCBGMaxAzria, Luca Luca and Irina Shabayeva hit the stage.
Friday, February 11th, brought us renowned designers such as Perry Ellis, Farah Angsana, Cynthia Rowley, Nicole Miller and Venexiana.

Saturday, February 12th, brought us the likes of genius designers such as Binetti and Vivienne Tam.
?Sunday, February 13th, gave us an all-star lineup of Derek Lam, DKNY, Tory Burch, Max Azria, Diane Von Furstenberg, Custo Barcelona, Tommy Hilfiger and Zang Toi.
It just kept getting better as Carolina Herrera, Monique LHuillier and everyoneâs favorite, Betsey Johnson made their way to the stage on Monday, February 14th.
All-time favorites Badgley Mischka, Vera Wang, Diesel Black Gold, Herve Leger by Max Azria and Narciso Rodriguez unveiled their Fall/Winter 2011 Collections on Tuesday, February 15th.
As the end drew near, Wednesday, February 16th, brought us the likes of Michael Kors, Adrienne Vittadini, Allegri, Anna Sui and Elie Tahari.
The lineup for the final day, Thursday, February 17th, couldnât have been more appropriate to end a super week. Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein and Gwen Stefaniâs L.A.M.B. Collection were the big names of the day with brilliant fashions to match.

There were over 85 onsite shows at Lincoln Center of which 16 of those shows presented us with brand new designers and 16 associate members presented in other locations across the city.
The key trends for Fall/Winter 2011 are bright, dazzling, exotic and eye-catching styles in contrast to normal subdued winter looks in grays and charcoals. Consistent colors were black, bright blue and red, rust, fuchsia, deep scarlet and white. Embroidery, appliques, sequins, feathers, fur, lace and ruffles were an integral part of the collections. Prominent fabrics included leather, wool, silk and chiffon. Accessories were minimal although the bolero hat seemed to be a favorite in many shows. Leather boots and platforms made their way down the catwalk as a lovely way to complete the outfits. Strapless and one-shouldered continue to prevail as the style in formal evening attire.
Lincoln Center was packed to capacity with attendees sporting all sorts of fashionable and unique looks. Sponsors such as Maybelline, TRESemme and AOL.com had interactive booths that drew crowds from all over the world. Two sporty and flashy Mercedes-Benz vehicles were center stage under the lights and pictures were snapped at every opportunity. Fiji Water, Diet Pepsi and Frappuccino provided thirst quenching refreshments all day long. For those who savor good wines, Kim Crawford Wines held wine tastings throughout the week so fashion enthusiasts could sample different types of wines and choose their favorites.
The Accessory Exhibit promoted new lines from gifted designers such as Crystal Streets of âHouse of Glamâ and Circa. Viewers could take in items such as handbags and jewelry as well as shoot pictures.

The All-Star Lounge was an area for those invitees to make their way to in order to enjoy some relaxation and conversation between shows.
Although the winter temperatures were brisk and chilly, heat lamps provided a bit of warmth in the courtyard areas. Couches were available out in the courtyard along with a large screen set in an ice sculpture providing playbacks of current fashion shows.
Not all activities and shows took place at Lincoln Center. All throughout the week, shows and parties were happening at Grand Central Station, flagship stores across the city, Metropolitan Pavilion, areas in Soho, Chelsea Piers, an Audi dealership, Chelsea Art Gallery and countless other places.
Celebrities spotted at shows and after parties included Matthew McConaughey, Debra Messing, Kelly Osbourne, Mena Suvari, Julia Stiles, Sean Lennon, Kanye West, Kelly Rutherford, Fergie, Russell and Angela Simmons, Denise Richards and so many more fashion followers.

On the final day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, global publisher of interactive entertainment 505 Games, global fashion, entertainment and media company IMG and world-renowned online gaming developer Funcom, announced the pre-launch of Fashion World Live. This is the 1st interactive online entertainment platform for fashion lovers and the first to fully integrate fashion brands into social media.
This week was a fashion experience like none other in one of the most exciting cities in the world, New York City.
Thank you once again IMG/Mercedes-Benz for making it a most memorable time and surpassing even last seasonâs great times and unprecedented fashions. We are so looking forward to September when Spring/Summer 2012 makes it way to the runway with more beautiful and surprising fashions.

For all of our readers and subscribers, please stay tuned. For the next few months, we will be taking you right to the runway and sharing the designer fashions with you as we experienced them.
