It all took place at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
The true winner of the evening was the gifted Blake Shelton with three awards to his name which included the highest honor of Entertainer of the Year. This is the 3rd time he also won Male Vocalist of the Year. The sweet smell of success runs in the family as Blake’s wife, Miranda Lambert, also won the honor of Female Vocalist of the Year which marks her 3rd time as well.
Just as entertaining as the award ceremony itself was the pre-event Red Carpet coverage. Entering the arena, the stars lit up the carpet in dazzling dresses of sequins and sparkles.
Taylor Swift chose a most stunning Jenny Packham peach gown emblazoned with red floral sequins. Even her nails and lips matched the color scheme of the gorgeous gown.
Lucy Hale appeared to have stepped out of a winter wonderland of magic in a white scoop neck gown with a gleaming black jagged pattern and little black clutch.
With a hit TV show focusing on the world of country music, actress Hayden Panettiere, surprised her fans in a white fringed dress with open back and accompanied by sea green shoes. If anyone could pull off that look, Hayden certainly could.
There is no denying that Carrie Underwood always dresses to impress and making her way in to the arena with hunk husband, Mike Fisher, Carrie looked spectacular in a Reem Acra flowing ivory gown with beading and golden appliques and carrying a gold clutch. She was smiling as brilliant as her dangling gold earrings. Underwood hosted the evening with fellow country music artist, Brad Paisley.
Neil, Kimberly and Reid Perry of The Band chose black with touches of red, grey and navy accentuating their good looks.
Reba McEntire leaned towards simple but made sure her deep blue sequins were shining brightly throughout the evening.
Another heavenly couple in black were the popular duo of Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. Tim is a cowboy in the midst of glamour.
Lady Antebellum who captivates country fans kept that string of luck going with their fashions of the evening.
The most animated couple of the event had to be Jake Owen and Lacey Buchanan Owen who went wild with the colors of the forest.
Kellie Pickler’s strapless gown was lovely and in the spirit of giving, Kellie had shaved her head for support of a friend with cancer. She is so very caring.
Speaking of the spirit of giving, the show opened with an appeal to viewers to give to the victims hardest hit by Hurricane Sandy by donating to the Red Cross.
The Lifetime Achievement Award was bestowed upon Willie Nelson whose career has been going strong for years. The 79 year-old received the inaugural Willie Nelson Lifetime Acheivement Award. He performed “On The Road Again” and Lady Antebellum did a medley of his songs which was a real treat for the audience and all his fans.
It was one of the most memorable evenings in music in Nashville and just as special as the awards themselves was seeing Taylor Swift, Dierks Bentley, The Band Perry, Aldean, the Zac Brown Band and Kelly Clarkson sing their hearts out and do what they love to do best.
Some of the other winners of the evening were:
Little Big Town won Vocal Group of the Year and Single of the Year for “Pontoon”.
Husband and wife team Thompson Square won Best Vocal Duo.
Hunter Hayes, 21 year old singing sensation, won Best New Artist.
It was an extraordinary star-studded night of glory in the country world for sure.
