THE SUN SHINES ON RENZO & KAI

Often a new designer emerges from behind the rack of exquisite clothing to excite fashion critics and lovers of new styles.  One such brand is Renzo & Kai who made their debut this past September at New York Fashion Week with a rooftop presentation of their Spring 2013 Collection at the renowned Empire Hotel directly across the street from Lincoln Center.  It was a huge hit.
The label itself is named after a young boy and his well-traveled godmother. Â It seems to tell the love story of old-world charm reminiscent of vintage and mixing it with a modern appeal. Â Their attention to detail and intricate design can be seen in hand beaded tops, sequined dresses and cocktail dresses of silky and romantic fabrics. With just the right touch of makeup and a hairstyle to match the mood, the clothing comes alive on the individual who chooses to make it her own.
Tiny sequin vests over champagne-colored party dresses set the mood in an exhilarating way. Â Gowns that fit tight to the figure have gathers in just the right places. Â Embroidery is exquisite and heads will turn as soon as you put your chosen outfit on.
Fringed knits remind us that a chill is still in the air but warmer weather is on the way. Â Renzo & Kai make color-blocking functional in tunic tops and short outfits.
We still see the tight leggings and the patterned maxi which are great staple items for the spring.
Geometric print jackets over black sparkle shorts mix fun and the professional life all in one.
The tuxedo jacket looks much more feminine and subtle on the woman than the man.
Complimenting the collection was the sunlight shining brightly on the models which made each and every sequin light up and accentuated the detailed craftsmanship of the beading.
