This season, there was no better way to open Fall 2015 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York, than with the bright colorful kaleidoscope and imaginative creativity of designs by Desigual.
On Thursday, February 12, 2015, charisma filled the Theatre within the Lincoln Center venue as some of the hottest names in fashion were seen walking the runway. Sitting front row and center, loyal clientele of the brand were summing up the latest collection brought to them by Desigual. Celebrity guests in attendance included Katie Holmes and Adriana Lima, both wearing Desigual . We also caught a glimpse of Grammy award-winning artist Drake.
Every designer becomes inspired to create, just like an artist getting ready to paint a portrait, and for Fall 2015, Desigual and Monsieur Christian Lacroix celebrated the world of creativity – Fashion’s ‘It Girls’ also got in on the action as Harley Viera-Newton served as music consultant and Langley Fox Hemingway, created designs which were interpreted by Desigual to serve as the backdrop and runway floor. It was the perfect way to get the audience smiling as they viewed all the beautiful looks that could easily become part of their wardrobe.
Fall 2015 was inspired by the creative process of putting a collection together and is a tribute to what happens in the design atelier. Abstract paintings, photographs of Africa, a voyage to northern Europe and a landscape full of flowers are the root of the design inspiration: one that is full of creativity and originality. The collection featured geometric motifs in black and white, multi-colored cardigans with a Scandinavian feel and structured dresses dipped in watercolors. Along with floral skirts in printed tulle came the cocoon coats in true Lacroix style. The result was an eclectic and sophisticated mix that’s sure to catch the eye of women everywhere. We went from the ever popular crop top to the feminine yet comfortable oversized sweater. From the adorable simple short sheath to the hip-hugging pants that flatter every figure.
Interesting accessories such as the yellow boot and the bright cap reminiscent of the French worn headpiece, adorned with pom poms, were a fantastic way to complete the look. As in seasons past, Desigual had special models leaving the audience in a state of awe at their beauty. Desigual’s current brand ambassador, model Chantelle Winnie, walked the runway along with supermodel, Behati Prinsloo who also memorably ended the show walking in the final outfit of the afternoon, reminding us of a Hawaiian princess in her element.
What is so great about this collection is how far-reaching these pieces extend. While some of the pieces are perfect to keep warm in the Northeast, there are other pieces that will adapt just fine to the hot steamy temperatures that the South characterizes as their ‘fall season’. Desigual delights in creating a wardrobe that is an extension of your personality. Fun and fearless, colorful and courageous, feminine and flirty, Desigual has it all and this Fall 2015 collection was all the proof we needed.
