It is one of the most exclusive film festivals in the world. Just as remarkable as the films themselves are the couture fashions which seem to take center stage. The Red Carpet is rolled out and the Cannes Film Festival begins, drawing a huge celebrity crowd to a festival whose birth began in the land of beauty and intrigue.
This year, the Cannes Film Festival began on May 11th and will continue through May 22, 2016. One of the most talked about films this season is Steven Spielbergâs âThe BFG.â It is a strikingly realistic adaptation, told in animation, of the 1982 Roald Dahl book. Fans are excited that the film will be showing in the United States as well on July 1, 2016. Actor Sean Penn moved his audience with his film, âThe Last Faceâ, starring his former lover, Charlize Theron. The variety of international films and their magnificent celebration parties keeps Cannes going 24 hours a day.
However, the most anticipated part of the entire Cannes Film Festival 2016 seems to be the celebrity wardrobe that hits the Red Carpet. There has been no shortage of glamour this year.
Much of the buzz is all about Blake Livelyâs adorable baby bump. Having a more curvaceous figure has not seemed to interrupt Blakeâs exquisite taste in fashion. Her many gowns have been stunning and her glow of pregnancy and happiness is unmistakable. Atelier Versace has been giving her a most deserved couture elegance with many of his gowns.
Kendall Jenner wowed the world in a sparkling black Roberto Cavalli gown, sheer to the eye, suggestive to the mind. Accentuating the entire look were long diamond earrings which hung boldly, all the more visible with Kendallâs hair being slicked back, a trend that is catching on extremely quickly these days.
The woman who has gained momentum at the festival this year is the lovely Aishwarya Rai, an Indian actress, model and former 1994 Miss World. Her choice of fashion is luxurious and she draws attention on the Red Carpet with her smile and with her wardrobe.
Julianne Moore glistened in an ethereal Alexander McQueen golden gown. She looks spectacular and seems to be enjoying the films.
The couple of the hour, as always, has been George and Amal Clooney. They certainly know how to compliment each other in their attire. Georgeâs new movie, âMoney Monsterâ was shown at the festival and will be making its way to the United States very soon.
At an event this chic, Michael Kors was bound to be one of the most fashionable choices, this time worn by Naomi Watts.
One of the current muses of the Chanel brand, Kristen Stewart, wore a sheer black blouse paired with a black and sea-green floor-length skirt, also by Chanel. She seemed very comfortable in her new look with much blonder hair and that laid back attitude. She actually debuted her new appearance recently at the 2016 Met Gala.
No event would be complete without one of the Hadid girls and Bella chose to attend. She amazed in a flesh-colored Roberto Cavalli gown.
These are just some of the many stars who will receive the title of âThe Best Dressed for 2016â once the Cannes Film Festival comes to a fashionable close. As they say, âThe festival is still young, with a number of days left to debut more gorgeous fashions from the celebrities that we admire the most.â
