The Magical Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin

It seems like we were just getting prepared for one of the most talked about international events of the season and now it is behind us. However, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin left us in awe and amazement at the exquisite fashions and the talent that each of the designers displayed.
Every collection was a magnificent production that filled us with the flavor of fashion in the Spring and Summer with a wide variety of styles and colors. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin Spring/Summer 2015 was held from July 8th through July 11th, 2014.
Many memorable presentations filled the days and stood out like stars in the night sky but there were three that are definitely worth the extra attention.
On July 10th, a brand that Germany is very proud of, Marc Cain, entertained an audience that almost seemed like they stepped off the Red Carpet. The company lives by the motto of setting the bar for highest standards of design, quality, materials, the latest production techniques and perfect fit. You can only imagine the setting as the theme was “MAGIC CIRCUS” making us drift into the land of Spring/Summer 2015. It all took place at the Erika Hess Ice Stadium. Five performance artists opened the show with an acrobatic performance on an oversized mannequin.
The pieces were flatteringly feminine. Floral capes awakened our sense of sight. Polka dots and pastels, black and white stripes, fringed leather purses, soft-looking sweaters and glistening bronze makeup highlighted this vivacious presentation. Animals dominated the prints.
The front row was once again packed with illustrious guests: Hilary Swank, Marcia Cross, Sylvie Meis, Motsi Mabuse, Franzi Knuppe, Nina Eichinger and more.
“I chose this Marc Cain outfit because it’s fun and feminine. The show was beautiful and merged art and fashion together perfectly,” said Hilary Swank, who expressed her enthusiasm to Karin Veit, Creative Director of Marc Cain, directly after the show.
As free as the birds and as graceful as the eagle, Laurèl transported us into a “BOHEMIAN SUMMER.” The guests took their seats and were whisked away to the Bohemian Summer Islands on the imaginary Laurèl Airways.
The live soundtrack was provided by hot newcomer band THE MAJORITY SAYS, showcasing their new album to underpin the vision of Head of Design Elisabeth Schwaiger. First-row star guests dazzled by each of the different looks included top model Bar Refaeli and brother Dor, Hollywood tattoo king Scott Campbell, Nikolai Kinski with Ina Paule Klink, Franziska Knuppe, Heino and Marie Jeanette Ferch, Barbara Becker and Noah Becker, Jana Pallaske, Wolke Hegenbarth, Vicky Krieps, Pegah Ferydoni, Dominic Raackewith Alexandra Rohleder, Fritzi Haberlandt, Jette Joop, Viktoria Lauterbach, Judith Milberg, Giovanni Zarella, Mirja DuMont, Minu Barati-Fischer, Mariella Ahrens with daughter Isabella, Martin Krug with Julia Trainer, Jennifer Ulrich, Maria Ehrich, Aino Laberenz and director Bora Dagtekin.
This fashion presentation was a tribute to the vitality of life itself and reminding us that we must hang on to every minute with a passion. Take your confidence to towering heights and parlay that inspiration to brighten your sense of fashion. Radiate with a beauty and energy that only Laurèl can help you attain.
We saw a diversity of eras wrapped into one with a full-length white crocheted dress, all hand-crafted, and a creamy casual silk jumpsuit which quickly became a favorite of Bar Refaeli. On the catwalk, VIP model Jana Ina Zarrella was radiant in a Brazilian-inspired emerald-green kaftan with stunningly detailed beaded embroidery. The 70’s hippie looks included the use of ultra-soft goatskin suede for flowing, feminine styles such as shirt tops, an overall and a fringed cape.
As a special focus, two stunning new art prints by artist JoNetzko were unveiled, adding a uniquely distinctive element to the total collection. Silhouettes appeared feminine and supple. The shades of lime, raspberry, opal, emerald and royal blue were rich and powerful hues. Mini and maxi lengths created interesting interplays of form and layering was back in style. Embroidery and decorative costume gems brought that special touch of lavish luxury and all out glamour and appeal. New fabrics like laser-cut jersey and neoprene introduced sporty elements that reflected how chic this concept can be going from the past and quickly positioning into the present and future.
We caught glimpses of casual bikini tops, playful hairbands, mirrored round glasses and lots of eyeliner in opal accentuated with thick, luscious lashes.
Laurèl translates the assured femininity of the Sixties and Seventies into cutting-edge contemporary looks for the summer of 2015, proving that we can borrow from the past to make the present even more beautiful in its own special way.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, we have arrived back in Berlin. For your information, all connecting flights are cancelled. The temperature is 32 degrees Celsius. The Laurèl crew wishes you a great stay in Berlin! Enjoy!” Sadly enough, our trip was over way too soon but we so look forward to a season of luscious pieces from Laurèl.
