Monday evening, May 2nd, New York City was the setting for a star-studded fashion event, the 2011 Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute’s Gala. The red carpet was loaded with celebrities and designers alike clad in glamorous fashions.

The late Alexander McQueen was the honored designer this year. There was an exhibition on hand showing many of his elegant designs. The exhibition was labeled, “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty”.

This great gala was hosted by the much respected Editor-In-Chief of Vogue Magazine, Anna Wintour.
Some of the brightest stars came out to participate in all the excitement.

Sexy Gisele Bundchen attended wearing a fiery strapless crimson gown and walking hand in hand with her dashing hubby, Tom Brady. They appeared to be very much in love.
Beyonce looked ever so beautiful wearing an Emilio Pucci black trumpet gown embroidered with a gold pattern.

An unusual combination that surprised the crowd was Tory Burch and Kanye West appearing to be totally enjoying themselves and looking very chic.

There was no doubt the night was all about Alexander McQueen when Naomi Campbell strutted down the red carpet in one of his masterpieces, a fringed white gown with silver embellishment and open sides.

Glamorous Sex and the City star, Sarah Jessica Parker, also wore a McQueen beaded turtleneck gown which showed off her hourglass figure quite well.

Leighton Meester looked simply intoxicating in a black strapless Louis Vuitton dress with shoes to match.
Beaming Jennifer Hudson wore a Vera Wang strapless gray gown with a full white tulle skirt.

Estee Lauder beauty, Carolyn Murphy, looked as if she stepped right out of a movie in her deep purple boudoir-like gown by Tom Ford who also happened to be her escort for the evening.
