October is the month when we all unite to make a difference in the fight against Breast Cancer because it touches all of our lives at some point in some unforgiving way.  Shopping events across the country rally to raise funds to support research and educate the nation, to create acute awareness about a disease that must be eradicated in our lifetime.

On Monday, October 15, 2012, Kristin Chenoweth, Tony and Emmy award-winning actress of film, stage and television, celebrated Breast Cancer Awareness Month with MARTINI and The Moms (Denise Albert and Melissa Gerstein) in a “Toast to Survivors” at Alison Eighteen in New York City.  She looked stunning in a pink sheath dress by Nanette Lapore and wearing the favorite shoe of all women across the globe, Christian Louboutins.

Chenoweth is no stranger to charities.  In 2007, she joined Laura Bush and other well-known celebrities to model in the Red Dress Collection Celebrity Fashion Show to raise awareness about heart disease.  She has since established ‘Maddie’s Corner’ (named after her dog) which is an organization to celebrate the bond between people and their pets while lending a “helping paw” to those in need.  The fine work of this organization also supports other animal groups as well as The Breast Cancer Research Foundation  and Invisible Children (For Haiti Relief Efforts).

On this day, Monday, October 15, 2012, Chenoweth was thrilled to accept a check from MARTINI for $10,000 on behalf of her organization and to be allocated to Breast Cancer Research Foundation  and Right Action For Women.  Kristin had her own story to tell as she looked back in time when she took care of her sick mother who battled breast cancer a few years back.  With lots of love, moral support and the best of care, her mom recovered and Kristin will always look back and remember the words of wisdom that her mom gave her.  Those words helped her to get through some tough times when she had her recent serious accident on the set of ‘The Good Wife’.  Simply put, after the accident, Chenoweth asked, “Why me?”  After what Mom went through, those inspirational words reverberated in her head, “Why not me?”  Life holds the key to so many exciting opportunities and situations to experience.

When asked some personal questions during the luncheon, we learned that Chenoweth thinks that one of the hottest co-stars she has ever worked with is Matthew Broderick for the unconditional love that he holds for his wife and children.  What makes Kristin such a talented actress is her individuality and how she is different from the rest which works to her advantage.  Kristin also expressed, “I don’t have any children or a husband.  But I have shoes.  Lots and lots of Christian Louboutin shoes.  Those are my babies.”

Perhaps if you have to take away one lesson from “Toast to Survivors”, it would be to become inspired by Kristin and her mom.  Find the positive in every situation-be strong, be confident, face the world!  Pink is surely a sign of strength and courage.
