Trends for Fall – Slits

Although we are easing our way into a steamy summer, many of the top designers are now showing their Fall Collections on the runway.

Sexy side slits seem to be the ‘in’ fashion statement. Alexander Wang gave his fans previews of sparkles and pizazz with overcoats and cape dresses but we saw evidence of the side slit in his evening wear. A black velvet loose-fitting sweater was matched with a seductive silky side slit skirt and was quickly followed by a gold heavy sweater worn over a very feminine gold side slit long skirt. Both outfits were subtly sexy.

Every woman’s favorite designer, BCBG Max Azria, kept with the trend. Many of his tailored outfits in beiges and blacks were shown with slits up the middle of the skirt or dress giving off an air of sophistication.

While many of the other designers brought us winter whites/beiges/blacks, Costello Tagliapietra gave us bright and exciting colors in his attractive clothing. A gorgeous beauty captured the audiences’ attention in a bright red long-sleeved simple floor-length dress with a slit right up the middle. Red full lips were an entrancing accessory.

World renowned designer, Diane Von Furstenberg, mixed the Spanish bullfighter and bolero influence into her collection. Onto the runway sauntered a tall model in a black sheer shirt almost fully unbuttoned with a black and gold belt and high side slit black skirt revealing a sultry leg. The look was finished with the full red lip and black bolero hat. In contrast to the dark black was the fuchsia pink loose-fitting shirt with the fuchsia pink side slit skirt topped off with a purple jacket. The color combination was ingenious.

Gucci gave us elegance with silky chiffons and slits in suggestive evening gowns. Somewhat of a unique style was his shiny brick red rain jacket with high wrapped collar and a slight hint of a middle slit. Perfect for slipping in and out of the taxi cab.

Well respected designer, Ralph Lauren, kept with the side slit trend as well. An eye-catching deep green kimono like dress was gathered at the waist to reveal the leg accessorized in black hose. His clothes always seem to carry an air of refinement and luxurious glamour.

Versace brought on the black sheath with gold buttons and a striking blue and yellow flower across the dress. The hint of a side slit was a brilliant way to finish off the dress. The pattern was shown in a variety of styles and all revealed the popular slit.

The classic Yves Saint Laurent accentuated the side slit in a white satin gown with rounded neckline. It was simply fit for a Greek goddess.

To round out the list of brilliant designers, Michael Kors seemed to make the fashion statement as well. The slit accessorized a sexy but simple grey skirt versatile enough for day or evening. A very exposed gold satin dress with long side slit was heating up with a gold fur coat and thick gold choker.

The side slit is definitely playing a front and center role on the runway this fall. It gives off a sexy and seductive and very prominent feminine appeal.
