Lower Manhattan is proud to host the 10th annual Tribeca Film Festival from April 20th to May 1st. The festival is presented by American Express and some of the Signature Sponsors include Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, Apple, Heineken USA, Vanity Fair just to name a few.

Moviegoers and film critics alike will be making their way to see the 44 feature films competing in three categories: World Narrative Features, World Documentary Features and Viewpoints.
The list of submissions this year topped over 5,624 entries. The full list of features will be posted online this coming Monday, March 14th and the list of short films will follow one week later.
The Film Festival is a World Class International event with films from 32 countries comprised of 43 World premieres, 10 International premieres, 19 North American premieres, 7 US premieres and 9 New York premieres. In addition, 99 directors will present their features of whom 54 are making their directorial debuts. There will be 12 feature film directors making their return to Tribeca.
The World Narrative Feature Competition includes 5 women and 5 first-time directors. This will include 12 acclaimed films that will be well worth attending.

A few of the competitors include Angels Crest (UK, Canada), Black Butterflies (Germany, Netherlands, South Africa), Grey Matter (Rwanda, Australia), She Monkeys (Sweden), The Last Rites of Joe May (USA).

Awards and prizes amount to $150,000 and the competition will include 12 narrative and 12 documentary features.

»» Founders Award for Best Narrative Feature, sponsored by AKA Hotel Residences;
»» Best New Narrative Director (for first-time feature directors in any section), sponsored by American Express;
»» Best Actress in a Narrative Feature;
»» Best Screenplay in a Narrative Feature [new for 2011];
»» Best Cinematography in a Narrative Feature [new for 2011];
»» Best Documentary Feature;
»» Best Editing in a Documentary Feature [new for 2011]; and
»» Best New Documentary Director (for first-time feature directors in any section), sponsored by American Express.

This event is a prime example of the cultural diversification that makes New York City the great city that it is.
