The most talked about topic of today is the runoff that was to take place between Alyson Felix and Jeneba Tarmoh. The two track & field runners had tied for third place in last week’s 100 meter run but only one can secure a spot to London. After giving it a considerable amount of thought, Jeneba has decided to withdraw and Alyson automatically becomes the chosen one to represent Team USA at the Olympics.
Some of the other Olympic sports featured on NBC Prime Time TV over the past week that are grabbing the attention of fans are swimming, gymnastics, track & field, soccer, basketball, volleyball and field hockey.
Some of the featured athletes that will shine for Team USA are:
Michael Phelps – A champion who broke records at the last Olympics and has decided to drop the 200 metres freestyle but still will compete in seven events in London (Swimming)
Missy Franklin – This powerhouse has dominated the 200 metres race and been called the best young swimmer in the world (Swimming)
Gabby Douglas – She is small but nimble and her nickname is “Flying Squirrel” for her amazing gymnastic moves (Gymnastics)
Ryan Lochte – A master swimmer who has surpassed records with his unbelievable capabilities (Swimming)
Jordyn Wieber – This extraordinary gymnast will make America proud (Gymnastics)
LeBron James – Eight-time NBA all-star and two-time NBA MVP who needs no introduction (Basketball)

The next time we will see all the athletes come together before millions will be at the London 2012 Summer Olympics to be held at the end of this month.
First Lady Michelle Obama will lead the U.S. Delegation to the opening ceremony of the Olympic games. She is thrilled to be a part of this monumental event and she views Team USA as real champions who will inspire our young people not only to get active and stay healthy but give them the ambition to reach their fullest potential and try to achieve their dreams.
This unprecedented event has sparked a global awareness of not only the excitement of the sports world but also the fashion world with high-profile designers such as Ralph Lauren taking part in the design of the USA uniforms and opening ceremony apparel as well as Olympic clothing for the consumer.
