VACATION PARADISE IN SOUTH FLORIDA By Hope Wilkos, Writer/Blogger

Have you been looking for a vacation spot where you can find the temperate sun and surf, non-stop nightlife, outdoor activities and superb cuisine? Well, look no further because that special destination is South Florida.

There is no better place to enjoy all kinds of water sports. Take a weekend and explore the tree-lined Loxahatchee River in a kayak. You’ll see huge and magnificent cypress trees that are hundreds of years old. It can truly be described as memorably scenic and serene and peaceful. For the romantic at heart, you will find the full moon paddle and wine toast in Pompano Beach to be the ultimate in outdoor evening activities. Gaze up at the stars from your kayak as the full moon will light up the entire sky. Lazily paddle down the Intercoastal Waterway while getting to know a very friendly group of paddlers.

Perhaps you are looking for a faster way to maneuver in the ocean. A jet ski is probably the answer. Most large beachfront hotels in South Beach and Fort Lauderdale offer jet ski rentals. Prices may vary by the hour.

If scuba diving is your hobby, look no further. Boynton Beach, Delray Beach, Fort Lauderdale and the Keys all hold the key to a world full of interesting marine and uncommonly unique underwater sea life. Fan corals sway back and forth on the sea floor as you explore the deep. Green morays peer out at you from under their claimed rocks. Barracudas eye you from above but really are of no harm.

Squirrelfish and rainbow parrotfish are in abundance. If you’re lucky, a turtle may even take a swim right by you. Dive the extended reefs or adventure further and dive the wrecks which house a multitude of marine life to explore if you are willing. Night diving has gained popularity in the summer months as the days grow longer and the sun goes down later.

Water temperature in the summer months range from a very pleasant 82 degrees to an enticing 86 degrees. With almost crystal clear waters and superb visibility, there are numerous dive operations throughout South Florida that will accommodate your needs with a welcoming smile.

Wednesday, July 27th and Thursday, July 28th mark mini-lobster season and lead into the regular 8 month lobster season which begins on August 6th and runs through March 31st of next year. Abide by the Florida Fish and Wildlife regulations and rules and you are sure to have a great experience.

As the day winds down into the night, the club scene unfolds and moves into high gear with trendy clubs such as Cameo, LIV, Mansion, Nikki Beach and more. South Beach is where the beautiful people come to party. Dance the night away.

Have a three-star meal outside on the Avenue in Delray Beach or people watch while enjoying a scrumptious meal on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach. The ultimate is a relaxing meal on the water as the yachts make their way through the waterways with their bows pressed downward in the glistening seas.

Whatever your fancy, you are sure to find it in South Florida and it will keep you coming back year after year.
