VICTORIA’S SECRET DAZZLES IN 2013

Dim the lights and the fashion extravaganza takes to the runway once again. Like clockwork, we know that the holiday spirit is in the air when the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is the buzz on the streets of New York City. This magnificent show takes place annually at New York City’s Armory in the heart of Manhattan.
Glitter crowded the runway as our favorite Angels were dressed in dazzling outfits soon to be on the ‘must have and most wanted’ list of every Victoria’s Secret Angel wannabe. There was even a light snowfall chilling the venue for a more lasting effect.
This year the audience was anxiously awaiting the most talked about “Bra Of The Year” modeled by the captivating Candice Swanepoel. Diamonds, rubies and yellow sapphires glistened (even on the straps) to the tune of $10 million on this Royal Fantasy Bra. Candice will go down in the Victoria’s Secret history books.
The show opened with the first of six acts with familiar themes. The ‘British Invasion’ gave us a London that we have never seen the likes of complete with psychedelia, union jacks and British rockers.
Headliner for the evening, the magnetic Taylor Swift, got caught up in the moment as well being dressed in a British Flag Dress and tiny top hat perched on her golden blond hair.
The additional themes for this year’s show were ‘Birds of Paradise’, ‘Parisian Nights’, ‘Shipwrecked’, ‘Snow Angels’ and ‘PINK Network.’
Other acts that took to the stage vying for the attention of the audience while long-legged beauties paraded down the runway were Fallout Boy, commenting that this is every teenage boy’s fantasy come true; Neon Jungle, the newest girl band with their own sexy style; and A Great Big World who are the up and coming dynamic duo making quite an impression on ‘The Voice.’
All of our favorite Angels played pivotal roles in selling the dream of items direct from the pages of Victoria’s Secret catalogues. Lily Aldridge, Doutzen Kroes, Adriana Lima, Behati Prinsloo, Lindsay Ellington, Candice Swanepoel, Karlie Kross, Alessandra Ambrosio, Cara Delevingne and Joan Smalls are all recognized names looking their absolute finest. Newcomer, Jessica Hart, was also thrilled to join the ranks of coveted fashion show Angel.
A tiny bit of heaven was brought to the runway. Garters and heels, a snowflake-patterned corset, feathers and tattered wings, Karlie’s crystal-spangled, skin-toned bodysuit, gold trimmed jackets, pleasurable pearls and sequins all were highlights of another fantastic fashion show. Tiny thongs, sequin-encrusted sweaters, blossoming floral shoulder pieces and a winter wonderland of fur warming the catwalk surely kept the viewers in a state of euphoria.
Not only did the outfits raise an eyebrow or two but shoes designed by Nicholas Kirkwood and Sophia Webster gave us unique takes on the average footwear. Swarovski crystal-covered cage booties, black patent-leather lace-up pumps, boots climbing up past the knee and bright platform stilettos were desirably different.
The feathers had a strong runway presence in all colors of the rainbow adding lavish extravagance to each look that they accompanied and sticking to the tantalizing theme at hand.
PINK is meant for the young at heart with a gleam of sunshine in their smile and this segment of the show was fun and energetic. Balloons and bright colors were the largest craze. Smiley faces and huge hearts fill our heads with holiday cheer and good tidings.
It was a sea of sexy undercover madness and delight brought to us by women’s favorite retailer, Victoria’s Secret, making 2013 another spectacular year.
For those not as lucky to experience it live, the VS Fashion Show will light up your television and laptop screens on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 as it is broadcast on CBS at 10 p.m./9 p.m.C. There will be lots of great items in store on Black Friday related to the 2013 show.
