Victory In ALCS Game 1

Monster Rally Powers Yankees To Victory In ALCS Game 1
Down 5-0 after six innings against the Texas Rangers, the New York Yankees charged back to win Game 1 of the American League Championship Series, 6-5 in Arlington, Texas.

The Rangers built a 5-0 lead against CC Sabathia and were leading 5-1 when the Yankees exploded for five runs in the eight inning to take a 6-5 lead they would never relinquish.

Alex Rodriguez scored the go-ahead run on a two-run single to cap the dramatic rally.

“You don’t ever think that you’re gonna score five runs in an inning but we know if we
get some guys on base anything can happen and we were fortunate,” said Yankees Shortstop Derek Jeter.

“To be down five to nothing, I think personally it was huge for us. I heard a couple of guys say we stole one tonight and that’s huge for us,” said Yankees DH Marcus Thames.

Friday’s victory was the Yankees’ tenth consecutive post-season win over the Rangers, who were eliminated by the Bronx Bombers in 1996, 1998 and 1999.

Game 2 of the ALCS is Saturday at 4 p.m., also in Arlington.
