A WINNING COLLECTION – DOUGLAS HANNANT FALL 2013

The venue is warm and inviting and the guests seem to be eager to socialize and then view the stunning looks of the season as designed by the creative master himself, Douglas Hannant.
The latest Fall 2013 Collection Presentation of Douglas Hannant was held at the Dimenna Center for Classical Music at Mary Flagler Cary Hall during New York Fashion Week. Tall statuesque models walked the hall gracefully as a concert pianist played classic notes in the background.
The looks conjured up a hint of Old Hollywood glamour with bright red lips, rolled bobs and authentic accessories of long elbow length gloves.
Quite pleasing was the presentation of peplum and smart-looking pencil skirts with tailored tops and jackets.
Black and grey were popular as winter brings a sense of cold withdrawal but there was a bright promise in the air with colors of lavish blue, roaring red, sizzling silver and even eggplant.
Fabrics were combined for contrasting yet appealing appearances. A tailored black silk suit had a plunging v-collar with black velvet trim. The little black dress was taken to the limit adorned in a bluish black mink stole. Douglas Hannant has that special talent to make the simple solid colored dress become a chic addition to your everyday wardrobe.
Polka dot patterns were in tops and dresses partnered with a skinny belt.
Leather was the canvas to which Hannant painted many styles in flattering ways.
Perhaps the best part of the show was the evening wear. A navy blue dress moving with the model’s curves was washed in sequins.
Flowing gowns with a refined grace looked lovely in brilliant hues and every woman will feel elegant as she slips into them. One particularly stood out for the brooch atop the shoulder clasping the gown in place.
Dark polka dots on sheer fabric was a unique way to complete the neckline on two of the dresses.
As the show was winding down, it was easy to see why Douglas Hannant appeals to the sophisticated woman with a taste for the finer things in life. A metallic silver and gorgeous deep blue gown confirmed those suspicions.
Douglas Hannant is one designer who knows exactly what a woman wants and designs according to her desires. You can feel it in each collection that he presents for his audiences.
