THE WINNING FASHIONS OF THE 2012 SUMMER OLYMPICS
By: Hope Wilkos, Writer/Blogger Photographer: George Whylie Videographer: Maxine NolanWith the arrival of the summer comes the long-awaited and much anticipated London Summer Olympics. The United States will be proudly represented not only by exceptional athletes but fashion will also play an integral part in the ceremonies.
There could be no better fashion icon to set the stage for the United States team than the all-American designer, Ralph Lauren. Lauren is no stranger to athletic wear. Having ingeniously designed a line for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, he has become the master of his game.
White is the color of distinction that will surely make a statement to the world. The outfits will have polo collars and striped belts accented with the official Olympic emblem along with the traditional Big Pony logo that can also be found on most Ralph Lauren apparel.
The clothing will be worn at the opening and closing ceremonies as well as casually at the Olympic Village. Once you see the line, you will fall in love with it. Beginning in May, some of the items will be available in select Lauren stores and on www.ralphlauren.com.
We can never seem to get enough of Ralph Lauren. During Mercedes-Benz Fall/Winter 2012 Fashion Week held in New York City, Lauren brought us more masculine fashions with a touch of grace and grandeur. Femininity still played a pivotal role as the black dress will forever be part of every woman’s wardrobe in many pleasing styles. He used velvet and gold to create a rich sense of appeal. His timeless fashions live on through the years and seem to hold a worldwide appeal to the masses. This is the perfect designer to take the United States to the finish line.
