WORLD CLASS ADIDAS GRAND PRIX By Hope Wilkos, Writer/Blogger

If you are a sports fan and addict, there is one thrilling event not to be missed.
The Adidas Grand Prix makes its way to New York City on Saturday, June 11th to the ICahn Stadium on Randall’s Island.

The meet is in its seventh year and is recognized as one of the nation’s premier outdoor track and field invitational meets.
The Adidas ambassadors are Tyson Gay and Jenn Suhr of the United States, Croatian high jumper Blanka Vlasic and World Champion heptathlete Jessica Ennis from the United Kingdom.
Olympic champions from all over the globe come together to compete with such great names as Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, the Jamaican sprinter who holds the world champion title at 100 meters and Carmelita Jeter of the USA who ranked #1 in the world last year at 100 meters.

Other favorites include Debbie Ferguson-McKenzie, Nickel Ashmeade, Allyson Felix, Kerron Clement, Mbulaeni Mulaudzi, Oscar Pistorius and Jeremy Wariner.

The Grand Prix will also feature the Jim Ryun High School Dream Mile for top high school athletes and the Mayor’s Cup Fastest Kid competition for youth in the tri-state area.
The Adidas Grand Prix and the New York Road Runners will honor the late Grete Waltz, the Norwegian Marathon runner who won nine New York City marathons between 1978 and 1988, more than any other runner in history. She was a silver medalist in the 1984 Summer Olympics and a gold medalist in the 1983 World Championship Athletics. She recently died of cancer in April at the age of 57.

Come out and cheer your favorite athlete to victory. You can get ticket information, schedules, directions and read more at http://www.adidasgrandprix.com.
