A Royal Wedding By Hope Wilkos, Writer/Blogger

Every girl dreams of becoming a princess. That dream became a reality yesterday for charming Kate Middleton who wed the love of her life, debonair Prince William, in an elaborate ceremony.
The day started like any other, however, on this day proclaimed as a national holiday, people lined the streets patiently waiting to get a glimpse of the bride as her car made its way to Westminster Abbey.

As Kate emerged from her car waving to the masses, she was a vision of grace and beauty with a smile that would warm the hearts of many an onlooker. The dress that was the speculation of fashion followers across the globe was no longer a secret. The gown has been described as retro, traditional and breathtaking. Respected designer, Carolina Herrera, described it as classic and regal and a bit sensational. The designer of choice was Sarah Burton of the House of Alexander McQueen. The gown was made of ivory and white silk gazar with hand-embroidered English and French Chantilly lace and 58 organza-covered buttons up the back. The neckline was shaped like a V, long sleeves complimented the dress made of lace and her train that was draped at the top was close to nine feet long. Her perfect figure was accentuated by the shape of the dress and the narrow bodice. Beneath the veil, Kate wore her hair down with soft curls at the ends. In keeping with the tradition of ‘something borrowed’, Kate wore a Cartier tiara, a crown of diamonds befitting royalty. This tiara was loaned to her by her future grandmother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth II.
Prince William looked simply regal in his red military attire.

Over 1900 guests packed into the pews of Westminster Abbey.

Prince William’s mother remains in his heart and he kept her memory alive on this very special day. The engagement ring he gave to his blushing bride belonged to his mom. It was a sapphire and diamond heirloom. Kate walked down the aisle with a bouquet of Sweet William dotted with Lily of the Valley, similar to Princess Diana’s bouquet. Diana omitted the term ‘obey’ from her vows and Kate followed in suit. Kate’s mother wore a blue shantung dress designed by the House of Catherine Walker, Diana’s favorite designer.
Some of the celebrity guests included Elton John, Victoria Beckham and Guy Ritchie.
After the ceremony, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Katherine, rode in the same carriage that Charles and Di rode in 30 years ago when they took their vows. As the couple slowly made their way to Buckingham Palace to celebrate this union of husband and wife, they smiled and waved at the crowds cheering them on.
Kate wore an elegant, flowing white satin gown to the reception, accessorized with a diamante detail at the waist and an angora bolera cardigan. William was in black tie attire.
The magical celebration continued into the late evening and today the newlyweds embark on a new chapter of their life together in harmony and happiness.

It has been rumored that the honeymoon is postponed for now since William will need to return to work on Monday. However, the honeymoon destination is speculated to be either Africa, Jordan or even the Caribbean.
Congratulations to the bride and groom and may everlasting love shine upon them.
