BACK ON THE FIELD – PENN RELAYS 2011

Track and field fans flock to Philadelphia to Franklin Field in order to watch one of the oldest and largest track and field competitions in the United States.  Over a five day period, more than 425 exciting events are held.

This year marks the 117th running of the Penn Relays.  Over 100,000 enthusiasts are on hand to cheer their favorite athlete on.

Next to the Olympics, the Penn Relays gives us the best high school, college and post collegiate athletes in the world coming from all across the country and abroad including Jamaica and the Bahamas.

On Saturday, the USA dominated the field for the World 4 x 400 relay in both men and women’s relay.  Bahamas came in second in the men’s.  USA Red and USA Blue took the top spots in women’s with Jamaica in third.

USA Red and USA Blue took the top spots in Women’s USA vs. the World 4 x 100 relays.  Jamaica won the men’s, USA Red and USA Blue took second and third respectively.

Proudly, a high school team from Jamaica dominated the high school boys 4 x 400 Championship of America.  The team of Munro College in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica won the event with Junipero Serra High School in Gardena, California coming in second.

The University of Texas won College Women’s 4 x 400 Championship of America and Texas A&M won the College Men’s 4 x 400 Championship of America.

Princeton won the College Men’s 4x Mile Championship of America.
