ENJOY A ‘GOLDEN GLOBES’ GLAMOUR PARTY
By: Hope Wilkos, Writer/Blogger Photographer: George Whylie Videographer: Maxine NolanWe all know that the months of January and February have plenty of awards shows in store for us. The first one on our calendars is The Golden Globes Awards which will be broadcast this coming Sunday, January 13, 2013, and will draw close to 17 million viewers as it does each year. We watch not only to see who takes home the top honors but which popular celebrities make their way down the Red Carpet and what designer has dressed them for the occasion.
There is no better excuse for a party. With only a couple of days left until the big night, it doesn’t give you much time to put something together. Need some help? There is nobody more versed in this area than THE master party planner himself, Bronson van Wyck. Bronson just launched his own decor brand and has a vast level of experience in both Hollywood and New York City. He has quite an impressive resumé and knows what it takes to get the party started. He has been featured inVogue and on E! and has earned a trusted reputation having 20 years in the industry.
Bronson threw P. Diddy’s “Party of the Century” also known as his 40th birthday and has planned State Dinners for Presidents Obama, Bush and Clinton. He has worked with Beyonce to make her parties special and is highly regarded by Martha Stewart. Hugh Jackman, no stranger to the awards scene, has relied on Bronson to deliver quite the party as well.
As far as Bronson is concerned, a social gathering doesn’t need complicated planning, a personal assistant, scheduler or publicist. It is a quick and easy process that results in the perfect party to raise your glasses. His advice is inspired by the nominees for maximum relevance and festivity as soon as the awards ceremony begins. Here are some culinary masterpieces with a touch of creativity:
Best Exotic Marigold Hotel – Cucumber sandwiches
Life of Pi – Heirloom tomato pie or chicken pot “pi”
Moonrise Kingdom – Lobster tarts
Salmon Fishing in the Yemen – Smoked salmon tartare on cucumber rounds
Lincoln – Illinois salted caramel corn
It can be as simple as having an evocative decor and being as well prepared as possible.
There are a few pointers to make the party memorable and stick with the theme:
*Have your guests arrive to a Red Carpet delineating the path to your front door. Line the pathway with lanterns and candles or blinking white lights to add shimmer and shine to the evening similar to celebrities dodging the paparazzi.
*Have a bubble machine fill your entry with the magical circular lightness that your guests will be sipping soon in their flutes. Put out a treasure chest filled with golden props such as wigs, sunglasses and costume jewelry so the guests are easily put into the mood within a matter of moments.
*Serve your guests the official Champagne of the Golden Globes, MOET & CHANDON, and keep their flutes overflowing.
During the commercial break, bring out the games that range from the high to the low brow, like Bobbing for the Golden Apple, Nominee Bingo or Celebrities, otherwise referred to as Lunchbox.
The most important key to a memorable evening is to have fun and enjoy every moment. You are sure to be a winner amongst your friends and family if you follow the guidance of Bronson van Wyck.
