GRAMMY 2013 HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES ANNOUNCED

Just last week, The Recording Academy announced and recognized the 2013 GRAMMY Hall of Fame Inductees.  The year 2013 will be even more special for these chosen group of talented artists as this marks the 40th Anniversary Celebration of the Hall of Fame.  Also announced are 27 recordings added to the collection that resides at the GRAMMY Museum bringing the list to 933.

This is a commemoration highlighting diversity and recording excellence and it is an acknowledgement of both singles and album recordings of all genres at least 25 years old that exhibit qualitative or historical significance.

Musical history is once again made as these inductees are chosen.  The Recording Academy is responsible for groundbreaking professional development, cultural enrichment, advocacy, education and human resource programs.  The ultimate mission is to recognize musical excellence, advocating for the well-being of music makers and ensuring that music remains an indelible part of our culture.

The winners range from AC/DC’s Back in Black Album to Frank Sinatra’s recording of “Theme FromNew York, New York‘”.

Other great artists and their songs are Billy Joel’sPiano Man“, Paul McCartney and Wings‘ album Band on the Run, Ray Charles‘ “Hit the Road Jack“, The DriftersOn Broadway“, Charles Mingus‘ album Mingus Ah Um and self-titled albums from Elton John and Whitney Houston.

Other inductees include the Broadway cast recording of “Lost In the Stars” and recordings by James Brown, Bob Dylan, Carlos Gardel, Buck Owens, Richard Pryor, Little Richard along with others.
