It seems hard to believe but the Harry Potter movie series is coming to an end. Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint unite one more time for the movie, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2”.
It all began in 1997 with “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” and captured audiences around the world. Famed writer of the series, J.K. Rowling, drew the attention of many devoted readers who couldn’t put the first book down and couldn’t wait to read the next book and the next book and the next book.
All 7 “Harry Potter” books had overwhelming success, selling 450 million copies worldwide and they were translated into 70 languages.
Harry Potter slipped into our hearts with his lively band of characters and his magical plots where good defeated evil most of the time and the stories shook our souls. Young and old alike enjoyed the books and the movies.
We grew up with Harry and his friends at The Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. We went through the trials and tribulations of childhood and growing up alongside the group.
The plot behind the latest movie, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2” is this. As the legend revealed in Part 1, there are 3 objects (Elder Wand, Resurrection Stone and Cloak of Invisibility) given to 3 brothers by Death himself and those objects make the possessors’ the Master of Death. Now switch to Part 2 and, of course, this is the ultimate for Voldemort, who wants full control and immortality. As this is happening, Harry and Ron and Hermione continue to search for horcruxes (magically enchanted objects) and inside each Voldemort has concealed fragments of his soul. The mission: to find and destroy all of the horcruxes.
The audience is in for their fair share of truth and lies, good and evil, life and death and lots of emotion. Heroes will shine, friendships will be steadfast and sacrifices will be made for love.
Recently, Ms. Rowling announced the arrival of Pottermore.com website which catapults the boy wizard and his friends and enemies into the ether. There will also be electronic editions sold on the website of the book series. These editions will contain illustrations and interactivity.
In 2010, Harry Potter gained fame at Universal Orlando with The Wizardry World of Harry Potter Theme Park which spans 20 acres in Orlando, Florida. You can visit Hogwart’s Castle and drink Butterbeer while you enjoy the park and its offerings.
Harry Potter has spawned a whole new multi-million dollar business with books, movies, theme park and website to name a few. The final movie gives us the perfect ending to remain lasting in our minds and our memories for many years to come.
