For the past seven years, Katie Holmes has undergone a miraculous transformation.  Meeting and becoming Mrs. Tom Cruise took Katie from a wide-eyed vivacious teen actress of Dawson’s Creek fame to an experienced and mature mother and wife.  As much as her personality developed over the years, so did her sense of style.

She has been photographed in the pages and on the covers of major magazines and her look has set the stage for those girls and women striving to portray the same air of confidence that she has.

Holmes’ looks change from season to season.  From elegant evening gowns to skinny jeans and solid tees to pencil skirts and tailored blouses to jumpers and jumpsuits, Katie has been the one to watch.  From the bob to long straight locks, she has also had a variety of trend-setting hair styles.

It has been no secret that Katie Holmes has taken an interest in fashion over the years.  At New York Fashion Week, she has been known to frequent some of the designer collection shows such as those of Calvin Klein.

Now Katie Holmes has turned a new page in her life.  No longer Mrs. Tom Cruise, Katie is devoting her attention to the design world.  In 2009, alongside her partner, stylist Jeanne Yang, the two launched their line known as ‘Holmes and Yang’.  They are now going full steam ahead to make their mark on the fashion world.

This line features clothing for both women and girls synonymous with comfort and functionality.  Sparing no expense, the majority of the clothing is lined in silk.  From the runway to your closet, you will find textured silk jumpsuits, stylish blazers, luxe shirts, motorcycle jackets and even a ruched strapless evening dress amongst the collection.  Recently we saw Holmes step out in tight leather pants with a white silky shirt and this collection surely has its share of leather.  At the initial debut of the line in West Hollywood, celebrities such as Alanis Morissette and Sofia Vergara came out to support this new design line and were totally taken with the clothing.  Of course, the inspiration for the children’s line is none other than the fashionable Suri Cruise.  Suri is always perfectly put together as she ventures out in public even when she goes for ice cream and she frequently is dressed similar to her mom.

The real test will be at New York Fashion Week this coming September when ‘Holmes & Yang’ become part of the lineup premiering their Spring 2013 Collection.  The venue is yet to be decided.

Today the line can be found exclusively at Barney’s, Harvey Nichols and a few other luxury stores.

Holmes’ latest venture is playing guest judge on an episode of Project Runway: All Stars.

Will the world of fashion bring Katie more satisfaction and success?  She is putting her heart and soul into it so we certainly hope so.
