Why not take some time on the third Saturday in October and spend some time reminiscing with your family, friends and neighbors as you watch home movies?
The Academy Film Archive organizes Home Movie Day in Los Angeles and this year on October 15th, it will be hosted by author and humorist Charles Phoenix. Film check-in is from 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. and screenings are held from noon to 4:00 P.M. Admission is free.
As part of “Hollywood Home Movies III: Treasures from the Academy Film Archive Collection”, you will be given the very special opportunity to see home movie footage from Hollywood’s Golden Age. Featured will be Marilyn Monroe, Shirley Temple, Carole Lombard, Cyd Charisse, Fred MacMurray, Joan Blondell, Margaret O’Brien, Bette Davis, Errol Flynn, Irene Dunne, Harold Lloyd and Jerry Lewis.
Don’t miss vintage scenes shot at many familiar Los Angeles locations and newly discovered behind-the-scenes footage of “Gone With the Wind”.

On October 16th, “Amateur Night: Home Movies From American Archives” will be presented. See all 16 amazing amateur films from collections of American film archives including 2 from the Academy Film Archive. See some rare footage by Alfred Hitchcock, Richard Nixon, animator Helen Hill and the ranger handling Smokey Bear.
You can’t beat the price. General public price is $5.00 and price is $3.00 for Academy members and students with valid I.D. Purchase online at: Oscars or in person at the Academy box office or by mail. Seating is unreserved and doors open both evenings at 6:00 P.M.
