1. According to O.J. Simpson, he is Kardashian West’s godfather. The Kardashians were very close friends with the football player—he says he was even in the delivery room when Kim was born—and Simpson’s late ex-wife, Nicole Brown. (Kendall Jenner’s middle name is Nicole in honor of Brown.) Kardashian West recalled when her father, Robert, served as a member of Simpson’s “dream team” defense. “It was surreal, with Johnnie Cochran and Robert Shapiro and all these guys having meetings at my dad’s house,” she recently told Rolling Stone. “I definitely took my dad’s side. We just always thought my dad was the smartest person in the world, and he really believed in his friend.” When pressed about what she believes now, she said, “It’s weird. I just try not to think about it.”

2. Kardashian West dated Michael Jackson’s nephew, TJ Jackson, for several years as a teenager, and even celebrated her 14th birthday at Neverland Ranch. “That was the most magical place on earth,” she told People in 2009. “When you drove up, there were baby elephants and chimpanzees in overalls, and there was all the rides. It was everything you can possibly imagine. The memories I have from that place will last for the rest of my life.”

3. Typical vices like drinking and drugs don’t do it for Kardashian West. She abstains from alcohol, except, she has said, “five shots of vodka in Vegas every three years.” Her major weakness, however, is iced tea and the sweetener Equal. She told Harper’s Bazaar in April: “I used to drink a ton of iced tea, but I’ve cut back. I had the craziest addiction to Equal. I’d put 10 Equals in every iced tea . . . I’ve trained myself to have just one iced tea a week, and I’m down to three Equals.”

4. Kardashian West is a self-proclaimed “Elizabeth Taylor nerd.” She can rattle off the carat counts of Taylor’s three most famous diamond rings, and Kardashian West was the last person to interview the actress before she passed away in 2011. At a Christie’s auction that same year, Kardashian West purchased three of Taylor’s jade bracelets for $64,900. “If you have a piece of jade, the energy goes into the piece and you absorb the energy,” Kardashian West told Forbes at the time. “So I can feel Elizabeth in the piece.”

5. Speaking of jewelry, in 2011, Kardashian West took to Twitter to reveal her own “weird Kim fact.” She wrote that she blow-dries all her jewelry ahead of putting it on. “I can’t stand putting on cold jewelry,” she wrote, “it gives me the chills!”
