Let’s Go Diving With Aerosmith

Steven Tyler is a rock-n-roll star who seems to defy the aging process. In addition, whenever we hear, “Live life to its absolute fullest,” Tyler is the perfect example. Whatever the sport, he is willing to give it a try, at least once.
Not too long ago, Tyler made the headlines as he decided to get nitrox certified at a sport that many of us escape into for the relaxation and appreciation that we have for nature and the beauty beneath the sea.
All geared up and ready to take the plunge, Steven Tyler was more than excited to become submerged to become at one with the marine life, getting an awesome view from many depths below the surface. Many photos have been seen of the rocker enjoying the sun and surf over the years, but there is nothing quite like the thrill of diving.
For a star of his caliber, his gear has to be top of the line. Using an Oceanic Excursion BCD Vest, the Mares X-Stream Open Heel Fins for that cool appearance and power in the paddle, Atomic Aquatics Regulator and Aeris A100 dive computer, he is ready for an afternoon of safe diving in any waters. Tyler is as comfortable in the water as he is on the land. He also uses his spare time to catch up on some surfing and some paddle boarding as well.
Being part of the legendary rock group, Aerosmith, Steven Tyler never quite seems to be alone. Another avid diver who is passionate about the sport is one of the other members of the group, Joe Perry. In fact, Perry has become actively involved with PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) PROJECT AWARE. The ocean has always fascinated him, an escape like none other. If not for the fact that rock and roll was calling his name, his chosen profession might just have been marine biology. However, good grades seemed to be one of the prerequisites for that career field and school and good grades were not Joe Perry’s forte’. But that didn’t have to stop him from enjoying all that the ocean had to offer. Most vacations take him to dive destinations and he treasures the freedom that comes along with scuba diving. Never seeming the same scenery twice on the seafloor, holds a sort of adventure and excitement for Perry.
While in Sarasota, Florida, with his wife, Perry became interested in PROJECT AWARE, and was willing to promote their cause without question. He is now devoted to building awareness about their ocean conservation and preservation efforts. It is all about keeping our oceans clean so that future generations can also enjoy everything that Mother Nature’s waters have to offer.
Joe Perry has some beneficial advice for getting on your way to helping the cause prevail. As a diver, always practice conservation measures, keep your beer cans in the boat at all times and look into joining a local organization. Most will have ocean clean-up days that you can partake in. There is no more rewarding feeling than being able to do your part to protect the marine environment and its inhabitants.
No matter where you have come from or where you may be going, scuba diving can provide so much stress relief from your normal hectic routine and hours and hours of pure pleasure. Just ask Steven Tyler and Joe Perry. They can attest to the fact that there is nothing better than being in the water and diving the depths.
