As you gaze out the picture window, your imagination takes you to a faraway exotic vacation land captivating you with many magical moments.  But you are quickly catapulted back to reality as your boss is towering above you asking if the assignment is complete yet.  Wouldn’t a vacation be nice right about now?

For all office bound Northeastern, Southeastern, Mid-Atlantic and West Coast dreamers, there is a getaway calling your name and so close that you can escape for a four day weekend and still feel like you are apart from civilization.

A little place called Cape Cod is in the easternmost portion of Massachusetts loaded with history, culture, friendly residents and beckoning beaches.

Cape Cod was formed as the recessional moraine of a glacier which resulted in a peninsula in the Atlantic Ocean.  Some may not realize that this is one of the largest barrier islands in the world and protects Massachusetts from storm waves like a big brother.  There are four distinctive sections of the Cape;  Upper, Mid, Lower and Outer.  Each has their own expressive personality drawing in visitors on a daily basis.

You will never have a dull moment as you make your selection amongst the fifteen towns within Cape Cod.  Various activities include freshwater fishing, quaint seaside villages, dune-backed beaches, scrumptious dining of fried clams and clam chowder and a reminder of a much simpler way of life.

Take a tour of the Nauset Lighthouse which stands as a symbol to all of its residents and a friend to ships that pass in the night.

Visit the indoor and outdoor theatres and attend concert series for a taste of culture.  Cape Cod can boast having 83 museums and 475 art galleries.  Tour the Truro Wine Vineyards of Cape Cod.

Informal guided walks take place through the award-winning Wildflower Garden at the Green Briar Nature Center.  Be at one with nature.  Hiking will make for some great exercise.

Some of the most fabulous arts and crafts festivals take place right here in Cape Cod.

Some of the most enchanting bed and breakfast inns await you with unmatched accommodations for a most romantic getaway.

Hop on the ferry for destination Martha’s Vineyard, one of the favorite locales for Presidents, celebrities and regular people like you and me.

The salty breezes attract travelers for an action-filled day of whale and seal watching that certainly cannot be recreated.

For historians, Cape Cod is rich with the pilgrim heritage, working windmills, cranberry bogs and more.

There are also over 2400 places to shop, 106 miles of bike paths and 42 premium golf courses.  When the day is done, the nightlife begins and you can choose whatever your fancy may be from a quiet candlelit dinner for two to a night of dancing and dining.

So what are you waiting for?  It is easy to get to by air or by sea and there are always last minute deals popping up calling your name.  Check out the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce website and embrace yourself in the magic.
