Opening night at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2013 on July 19, 2012 was full of glamour, spirited fashions and an energy that lit up the night.  The much anticipated Swim 2013 Collection of Lisa Burke came to life on the runway in ‘Year of the Dragon’.  The splendor of the suits was captured in such a way that is unique to ‘Lisa Blue’ with an immeasurable beauty.

The inspiration behind this latest collection stems from the Year of the Water Dragon, a major symbol of good fortune in Chinese Astrology.  It is a constant reminder that life is full of dreams and now is the time to pursue them.  Good fortune and intense power was translated into the swimsuits showcased on the runway.

The sexy swimwear attracted the lovely Brooke Burke, heartthrob David Charvet and singer/dancer/actress and model, Christina Millan who were all seen enjoying the show and admiring the fashions.

As the show began under dim lights, striking bathing beauties that looked similar to Grecian goddesses graced the runway in white suits trimmed in gold.  They were enchantresses in gathered monokinis and sky blue flutter sleeve tops with cutaway bikini bottoms completed with sparkling gold heels encrusted with diamonds to match.  Plunging v-necklines, gathered ruched bandeau monokinis and golden crowns of glory set the mood.

But then it was taken up a notch as Karina Smirnoff of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ fame moved her way wildly down the runway in a flamenco frilled bandeau and long ruffled coverup skirt.  Ruffles and frills in powerful red and silhouettes of flamingos made our imagination soar.

The next phase of beach magic brought us one of Lisa’s own favorites, the denim suit.  Red, white and blue hit the runway in a patriotic halter U-bandeau top trimmed with white lace and red and white frill over blue pant.  A model was having fun in a denim underwire one-piece with side ties and wrists adorned with bangle bracelets.  Fun and fanciful were the red and white, blue and white bikinis and hipsters and red and gold pumps added for that special finish.

We then went into the Orchid Flower segment which was a rainbow of florals in interesting and eye-catching designs.

In many of the suits that paraded down the runway, we saw the influence of the 60’s with high leg brief bottoms and halter tops.

Nothing could have prepared us for the extravagant ending to such a dynamic showing.  The dragon came to life before our eyes dancing all the way down the runway in a colorful scene reminiscent of a Chinese traditional dance.  That set the stage for the final suits of the collection lavishly accessorized with large headpieces intricately designed in silver, black with silver diamonds as well as dragon wings in gold and dazzling fire red.  The dragon had a part in each outfit that masterfully marched down the runway.

Long slinky dresses in pleasing colors were more dramatic with crowns of jewels, open v-shaped one-pieces in winter white with blue dragon designs as well as the underwire balconette top with side cutaway retro hipster looked sexy and very sultry.  There were no words for the plunging shiny pink one piece with the image of the dragon emblazoned to remind us that power can also be very pretty.

The perfect ending was the image of Lisa Burke herself walking the runway in a beautiful black and deep blue dragon bikini and short sarong with her own special headdress and signature whale’s tail necklace shining under the lights.

What makes ‘Lisa Blue’ Collection touch our hearts is the immeasurable good that each piece does for the efforts to ‘Save The Whales and The Dolphins’.   For each suit sold, 25% of the profit goes to support this meaningful cause.  Go to www.lisablue.com.au to sign the South Korean Scientific Whaling Petition and buy one of her charmed bracelets online of which 100% of the profit from these goes to support the cause.

As you put on a ‘Lisa Blue’ suit, you will enchant and amaze.  Act on your dreams and good fortune will follow.
