RINGWALD ENTERTAINS SOUTH FLORIDA

We all remember the enchanting films with the happy endings that were classic situations of teens of the 80’s.  The “Brat Pack” gave us moments to remember in ‘Sixteen Candles’, ‘The Breakfast Club’ and ‘Pretty In Pink’.

One of the best known actresses of the group was the feisty  and very talented Molly Ringwald.  Beginning her acting career at the young age of 5, this red-haired wonder entertained audiences in films, television and on stage.  Girls loved her style in ‘Pretty In Pink’ and fashion turned its attention to lace and clothing began to stand for individuality.

The years have passed all too quickly and Molly Ringwald is now grown and married with a family of her own but her talent has only blossomed in numerous directions.  In addition to acting, Molly has written two books.  The first was published in 2010, “Getting The Pretty Back: Friendship, Family & Finding the Perfect Lipstick.”  Here is a book most specifically tailored for our most feminine side to be used as a guide for girl topics such as style, relationships, motherhood and food.  The second book published in 2012 was more like a novel called “When It Happens To You: A Novel In Stories.”  It is about a couple with a floundering marriage.

Molly has also had the opportunity to live in Paris where she acted in a few French films having a role where she performed entirely in French.

Now Molly Ringwald is touring as part of the introduction of her first CD called ‘Expect Sometimes‘ which was released on April 5, 2013 through Concord Records.  It pays homage to the Great American Songbook with the genre being jazz.

Growing up listening and loving the music of her dad who was a jazz musician, she gained a deep appreciation for his music and even began to sing with him as a small child.  Today, Ringwald admits that this type of music makes her feel grounded.  She has followed in her father’s footsteps.  The surprise song of the CD is Ringwald’s rendition of Simple Minds‘ “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” which we all remember from the soundtrack of the movie ‘The Breakfast Club’ starring Molly Ringwald in one of the leading roles.

South Florida was lucky enough to be able to welcome Molly Ringwald as one of her stops on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 and Thursday, May 2, 2013 at the posh Mizner Park in Boca Raton, Florida.  Not only was Molly giving South Florida a preview of her CD, but she was helping to celebrate the Grand Opening of Jazziz Nightlife, a new Boca Raton chic spot for live entertainment, fine cuisine, wine, champagne, caviar, cigar and piano bars and plush indoor and outdoor lounges.

Ringwald felt right at home in South Florida and the audiences for all four of her shows loved those smooth and mellow sounds.  These days you can also catch her as a regular on The Secret Life of the American Teenager on ABC Family.
