The Iconic Catwalk Of The Century
By: Hope Wilkos, Writer
It has been an amazing comeback as the majestic skyscraper that is now known as One World Trade Center towers high above the bustling city of Manhattan.
Not only are numerous powerful fashion and media corporations going to take up residence within this statuesque structure, but on June 25, 2014, it was somewhat christened when model turned entrepreneur, Jessica Minh Anh, converted the 63rd floor of One World Trade Center into a catwalk of extreme proportions. The stylish city surrounded her on all sides as the clouds felt ever so close. Jessica is no stranger to creating phenomenal fashion shows with backdrops that are iconic in nature as she hugs each and every moment with all her might.
This particular show represented patriotism at its finest hour as it was a multicultural Summer Fashion Show to celebrate the strength of the new generation. The lavish styles seen on the catwalk were a combination of Haute Couture, high end ready-to-wear and active wear from different regions around the world and designers whose work was a representation of self-expression through the frontier of fashion. Designers who chose to participate included Lebanese celebrity designer Ziad Nakad, Peruvian artist and public figure Norka Peralta, Spanish sensation Diego Cortizas of Chula, Indonesian lifestyle brand HAY UNITED, America’s very own accessory brand Cat Footwear, Russian talent Alina German, Brazilian jeweler Cristina Sabatini, and the Philippines’ pride Puey Quiñones. Each designer premiered a special collection inspired by this very symbolic location.
Beads, sequins, feathers, eye-capturing colors, fabulous fabrics and textures and heart-stopping gowns were all part of a show that was both chilling for all that it signified and amazing for the amount of detail that went into each piece and the setting as well with its high-tech setup. Taking on one of the most difficult jobs of the event by far was Italian hair stylist, Nunzio Saviano, who used magical creativity to pile Jessica’s hair high atop her head in a sort of ‘Freedom Tower hairstyle.’
The guest list rang out with some of the most prestigious people of all time from company directors and CEOs, country ambassadors and consulates, America’s influencers, international designers, and national and international press. To make sure that each and every guest received an unforgettable experience, Jessica Minh Anh teamed up with French chef Sebastien Pourrat, owner of the famed Cocotte SoHo, to bring in the most exquisite cuisine and beverage collections. The food was unsurpassed in quality and presentation.
So why did Jessica choose this location? “One World Trade Center represents determination, innovation, and ambition, which are the qualities I stand for as a young entrepreneur. Similar to the Tower, I strongly believe you’ve got to dig deep to rise high.” This principle seems to be consistently reflected in Jessica Minh Anh’s many international ventures which set her apart from the rest of the fashion moguls. Prior to hosting the world’s highest fashion show on the Grand Canyon Skywalk at 4,000 feet above the Colorado River in 2013, Jessica Minh Anh has hosted previous fashion phenomena’s on London’s Tower Bridge PETRONAS Twin Towers’ Skybridge at 44 and 175 meter high meters respectively.
So much went into making this a huge production enjoyed by guests for its glory and grandiose effect with clothing that set off an awe-inspiring tone and tantalized with its beauty. This fashion event precedes the opening to the public of One World Trade Center which takes place in just under six months. It is a celebration of just how resilient and steadfast we are as a country and how united we stand.
Where will Jessica’s ingenuity and desire to travel take her to next? We are sure to see Jessica Minh Anh high atop the world at another iconic destination where her catwalk presentation will glorify fashion in countless ways.
