This year was a historic one for the 2011 Video Music Awards Ceremony. A record-breaking 12.4 million viewers ranging in age from 12-34, tuned in to the live event which took place in Los Angeles. What made this year different from the rest was the absence of the traditional host.

There were plenty of gorgeous fashions making their way down the red carpet. Beyonce was one of the belles of the ball glowing in an orange one-shouldered silky gown covering her newly revealed baby bump which happened to be the news of the night. The silver jewelry complimented the dress stunningly.

Bringing a bit of the festive look to the red carpet was Nicki Minaj in a colorful and unusual outfit.

The mini certainly was the overwhelming trend for the evening and was worn quite well by most stars.

Selena Gomez simply exuded grace and sophistication in a frilly black lace dress with a circular neckline and touches of silver glitter.

In a silver sequined tight-fitting dress with matching heels, Demi Lovato stole the red carpet with a blink of her long lashes and her long flowing dark curls.

The night wouldn’t have been complete without reality star and newly wedded Kim Kardashian. She was a head-turner in a metallic dress with flesh colored back and black colored nails to accompany the outfit. Her hour-glass figure fit snugly in the gown.

Katie Holmes who was one of the presenters for the ceremony, was fashionably chic as usual in a black and tan lace applique short dress with wide black belt and tan ankle boots.

Britney Spears is back and beautiful in black sequins and patent boots.

We saw a much different Justin Bieber. Sporting designer duds but resembling a rap star, he was transformed from the usual teenage idol.

Mickey Mouse appeared in bright lights as he was part of the outfit of Kreayshawn who hands down won the most original dress of the evening.

In glitter and gold, Ne-Yo was full of smiles and good cheer.

The night would not have been the same without many of the cast members from ‘Jersey Shore’ and ‘Teen Wolf’.

The winners were duly chosen for their talented contribution to the music industry. The ever popular Katy Perry won ‘Video of the Year’ for ‘Firework’. She was a firework herself in an ornate embellished mini-kimono with a slit at one leg with adorable pink roses and matching umbrella.

Lady Gaga once again surprised her audience in a male get-up to ironically win ‘Best Female Video’ for ‘Born This Way’. She had a totally different look to accept the award for ‘Best Video with a Message’.
‘Best Male Video’ goes to Justin Bieber for ‘You Smile’. The girls were all smiles as he made his way to the stage.
‘Best Collaboration’ and ‘Best Special Effects’ were shared by Katy Perry and Kanye West for the magical ‘Extraterrestrial’.
Party girl, Nicki Minaj, took away ‘Best Hip-Hop Video’ with ‘Super Bass’.
Foo Fighters are still going strong as they were awarded ‘Best Rock Video’.
Britney Spears has definitely made her comeback and took ‘Best Pop Video’.
Adele won ‘Best Art Direction’ and ‘Best Cinematography’ and ‘Best Editing’.
Dancing queen, Beyonce, took ‘Best Choreography’.
For all the Beastie Boys fans, they took the ‘Best Direction’ award.
There was also a moving tribute to the late Amy Winehouse which was performed by Bruno Mars, Tony Bennett, Russell Brand and Adele.

The night was loaded with fashion, fun and flavor and seemed to spell success all the way around.
Congrats to all the winners!
